What Should I Do About Toe Nail Trauma Of The

What should I do about toe nail trauma of the great toenail? It was bent upward (dorsal) and the skin at the base of the nail looks bruised and inflamed. The nail is painted so I can't see what's happening in the nail bed but I suspect it's turning dark from bleeding below the surface of the nail. It's tender when I wear a closed shoe.
