What To Do For The Pain Due To Running?

I have been running for about five months at about three times a week about five miles every one of those days. I think I have always had adductor muscle tenderness, soreness and some very mild pain, but one day I ran for about 8.5 miles and had some low to moderate pain in my groin area, not painful enough to make me stop my run. I have not run for about a week and a half. My question is should I start running again and if so how many miles should I start with.
