What Would Your Professional Opinion On Long Term Therapy With

What would your professional opinion on long term therapy with benzodiazepines for people who are not getting any kind of response from anything else? For the last 8 months I've been on a medical merry-go-round and nothing works. Diazepine (Valium) fixes me completely, but I also know it carries its own risk of addiction and more seriously withdrawal. Same with alprozolam. When talking to my GP he kind of reiterated those concerns but said also that for some people it's just choosing the lesser of several evils. Like I'd rather be addicted to a benzo and a functional member of society than addicted to ethanol and not. But this isn't a conversation I want to have with a therapist because I fear that an abundance of research and classic drug seeking behavior can be very similar
