When I Tried To Take Out My Tampon It Was

When I tried to take out my tampon it was painful as though I was pulling a piece if string from inside me. Then when I tried removing it more I notice a piece of skin like a loop of skin that was caught with the tampon. I needed to cut the string of the tampon in order to remove my tampon because this piece of skin was painful to tug on. What is it???
