When Can Metronidozole Be Taken After Alcohol Consumption?

I have been prescribed metronidozole but was out last night and had a few drinks. I know once I start the course I must not drink at all and for 48 hours after. But is it OK to start the course or should I wait. I probably had about 3 large glasses of wine. Thanks.
