When Diagnosed With Bronchitis Why Doctor Won't Rx Tussionex ,

When diagnosed with bronchitis why doctor won't rx tussionex , will only rx bromfed syrup - even when I explain that bromfed doesn't work well and neither does the benzanate capsules. I'm given rx for omnimex antibiotic which I am confused since acute bronchitis is typically viral. I've had for 2 weeks and laryngitis for 1 week
