When I Look At A Vertical Line , It Looks

When i look at a vertical line , it looks straight with my left eye but has a small horizontal bulge in central vision. I am aged 83. Several years I had photopsia treated by laser tacking of the retina to prevent a retinal detachment. I am developing cataracts. I plan to go to see my eye specialist as soon as I can get an appointment i first noticed the distortion looking at a barcode. I suffer metabolic syndrome. I am a Consultant Physician. I suspect the original tacking did not include the macula. Any urgency?
