When Is Fibroid Surgery Necessary?

I am preethi, my age is 49 years. Recently i have problem of over bleeding so i consulted Gynochologist and advised for scanning. In the scanning report it is mentioned that Uterus : 108X86X77 mm. anteverted Bulky Uterus. ET - 2mm. Myometrium shows multiple hypoechoic lesions largest 5.5 cms. Endometrial echoes are smooth and regular. Doctor advised that there are multiple fibroids so surgery is required. I have read some where that after menopaz stage fibriods tend to reduce. I wanted to know whether surgery is required for bulky uterus and multiple fibriods. Any problem is there with bulky uterus
