When is it indicated to use IV Pantoloc versus po route?
How or what criteria would you use to determine when an ER patient diagnosis of "Uppper or Lower GI Bleed" with an order for endoscopy/gastroscopy be appropriate as an inpatient admission to wait for the test or could this be done as an outpatient procedure?
76yr old pt presented with pre-syncope(dizzy and lightheaded-->collapse, no LOC), while leaving casino; no melena, no hx of GI bleed, no bloody diarrhea or constipation, no fever or any CVS associated symptoms since initially seen in ER. PMHx gastric ulcers, HTN. Meds: ranitidine and ASA. Negative occult blood. Hgb 77/Hct 25% MCV Plt 156 WBC MCV 74. Drug toxicology negative.
