When Should I Take Yaz To Get Best Results?

i was prescribed yaz, and the instructions state i must take day one after my period or the first sunday after my period, but i have an irregular period and skip months so i do not know if it is alright to start yaz untill i eventually get my period, which i do not know how long that could be. so can i start taking yaz on a sunday that i dont have my period?
