Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Whenever I sneeze I have a sharp pain in the right side of my throat (middle of neck but in my throat). The pain travels to my right ear which then causes a fullness sensation. The pain also travels to the lower right base of my skull (back of head). Basically it feels like I’m damaging my throat whenever I sneeze and it hurts enough that I’m scared to sneeze! I did fall about 2 weeks ago and bumped my chin, I didn’t think that I hit my neck or throat but perhaps I did. I saw a doctor and they did a CT scan of the neck. Nothing showed on the scan but my chin has a huge bump on it for over two weeks (Hairline fracture and the bone callousing? Why wouldn’t a CT scan show that?! Apparently it didn’t according to the report.). There is something wrong with my throat, I know that much. What would cause pain like this that wouldn’t show on a CT scan and what can I do to help my throat heal? I was given antibiotics but that hasn’t helped. I also have a swollen lymphnode on the left side of neck under my ear but that also didn’t show up on the CT scan even though it’s definitely enlarged (I’ve had this swollen gland for over a year and a couple weeks ago it swelled up to the size of a cherry but went back down to its regular swollen size). Basically looking for a second opinion!
