Which Is Better To Diagnose Heart Problems An Echo Stress

Which is better to diagnose heart problems an echo stress test or an angiogram? My son is in hospital since Friday and he is to have an echo test. He has severe pain in his chest and down his arm and this is resting in bed and we don't know the cause. Please advise.
