While Swimming This Evening, I Dived Into The Deep End

While swimming this evening, I dived into the deep end of the pool (about 10 ft.) and my left ear popped and water rushed in. Now, my ear is in a lot of pain and i cannot hear out of it. Also, when i put ear drops in, there is very sharp shooting, unbearable pain. Is this normal? Could i have a ruptured ear drum or just a regular ear infection?
