Why Are My Ribs Swollen?

i fell real hard on top of a package and hit the concrete while rushing around in the mall three days ago. I immediately got up and left. My ribs on the left side are still swollen and extremely painful. My right arm is purple from my shoulder to my elbow. Do you think my ribs are broken? The ER doctor exrayed it and said he could not tell.
