Why Are My Tonsils Still Swollen And Scarred Years After Glandular Fever, Making Swallowing Difficult?

I had glandular fever around about 5 years ago now, my tonsils were extremely swollen and never did shrink back to normal size. They still have visible scarring on them and are still extremely swollen, this makes it difficult to swallow sometimes, especially when lying down. I have been to doctors before and every time I’ve been told just to rest, however this has been the case for the past 5 years.
