Why Do My Taste And Smell Keep Coming And Going After Losing Them During An Illness?

Hi, I got sick back in July and once I started to recover I realized I lost my taste and smell. I can smell things close up but not the full sense of my surroundings. Some days I can fully smell and taste everything, and then it goes away the next day. Please advise why this is happening. Thank you kindly.
