Why Does A Random Part Of My Skin On My Back Go Numb?

I have been experiencing numbness in an approximately 4"x4" area of skin for several months now. It is in the middle section of my back close to where a bra clasp would be and sometimes shows up in the immediate surrounding areas over my shoulder blades. Never in more than one place though. It's really weird because it's just the skin that is numb, and I experience heightened sensitivity (paresthesia) in the same area, extreme itching, burning, but there is nothing there.
