Why Does It Hurt To Sometimes Insert And Take Out

Why does it hurt to sometimes insert and take out a tampon. The tampon is not dry, I actually bleed through to my pad, and I am not a virgin. I have used tampons before and have never had issues until my body settled in with my new form of birth control (paragard IUD). I was using Nuva Ring before.
Every time I take out a tampon I get a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. I'm pretty sure I'm inserting it in correctly and my body is relaxed when I take it out. Should I go and get this checked out or is this normal?
