Why Is Colchicine Prescribed For A Person With Elevated CRP Levels?

Thank you. My doctor says I have an elevated CRP level in my blood test and has prescribe me colchicine 0.6mg but the pharmacy says it is for gout which I don t have. My understanding was there is inflmation in my body and this will help any heart issues??? I am confused. Please help.
