Why Is Glycomet Prescribed While Planning For Pregnancy?

I went to a Gynaecologist in October 2014. She had asked me to do many test. After the results she prescribed Folic acid tablet (after dinner) and glycomet 850 mg (after breakfast, lunch and dinner) tablet for 3 months, and told me that I should try to conceive only after completing the course. I did not take glycomet because it is prescribed for diabetics. I am afraid on this. Should I take it or not? Please advise
