Why Is Levamisole Hydrochloride Prescribed For Plantar Warts?

i am a 27 year old male. my doctor prescribed me levamisole hydrochloride 150mg on two days a week, for mosaic plantar warts on right foot, for which pairing and electrocautery was done once. i am otherwise healthy and have no other disease. but i read on internet that this drug is used only for colon cancer and has lots of side effects. please guide....
