Why Is The Area Around My Nose Swelling After A Pimple Popped?

I had a large pimple on the side of my nose. I popped it and went to bed when i woke up the area had started to swell really bad and got worse throughout the day. I left it alone through the night and when i woke up this morning the swelling has gotten so bad that i can hardly open my eye.
