Why Should I Take The Isoniazid Treatment For 9 Months?

Why should I take the Isoniazid treatment for 9 months? I am 60 years old, and for the first time I had a positive TB skin test result. Size was less than 5 cm. chest X-ray was clear. The gamma (sp?.) blood test showed I have a latent form of TB. It was highly recommended that I take the treatment. A second opinion doctor told me it makes no sense to take the treatment.
