Will A Groin Abscess Incision Wound Be Irritated By Showers?

i recently was treated for an abscess above my groin area, the incision is still relatively open and u was wondering what should i do about showers. The doctor told me its fine to shower but no beaches, pools, etc. I'm worried that if i shower i may irritate the abscess more. What should I do?
