Will Rubbing Alcohol Along The Spine Help With Migraine Headaches?

I work in a chiropractors office and one of our patients who has been suffering from migraines said she was advised by a M.D. at her pain clinic to use rubbing alcohol along the spine to help with migraine headaches. Does this really work and if so...how?
