Will The Redness On Penis Post Injury Heal On Its Own?

hi, my 2yr old son slammed the toilet seat cover on his penis when he wanted to pee, there was a minor redness on the tip of his penis, and that was all, its been over 6months now and he occassional complains that his penis hurts, sometimes when he pees. we have not done anything about it, we just wait and hope it will stop, what can we do about it. many thanks
