Would The Combined Pill Be Effective After One Week?

Hi I have been on the combined pill for over a week now. And on the 8th day of being on the pill I had unprotected sex, would the pill been effective? As this was on Saturday night. Then on the Monday afternoon I went to the pharmacist and got the morning after pill. What are the chances of getting pregnant by what has happened and can you give me more information about how long until your protected once on the combined pill. Thanks
