Would The Contraceptive Stop Working?

Hello, I've been using the contraceptive patch for about 5 months. In two weeks I'm going to the beach, but it's the same week that I have to take the patch away and I'm getting my period, I was wondering what would happen if I take it off a week before so I get my period then and put the new one the week I'm going to the beach? Would it stop working?
