Yes Sir I Was In My Motel Room After Work
Yes sir I was in my motel room after work sitting on the corner of the bed pulling my work boots off. They were tight and when it came off i slipped off the corner of the bed. I tried to keep from falling by rolling my arms. I couldn't keep from falling and fell into the section about 9two and a half foot wide between the wall and the bed I got one leg folded up behind me and the other leg was crossed over in between that one. It made me fulcrum my left leg and broke it at the ball. At the time this happened I was technically on the job since I work all over the U.S. From job to job and I am on the job from when I leave my front door until I get back to my front door. The last thing I wanted was a workers comp claim as much as we live and breathe safety. So I thought to myself this was the last day of the job and I was about 120 miles from home maybe I've pulled a ham string and I could go home and I had 3 weeks vacation time and I could take my vacation and heal up. Well I scooted on the floor over to the phone and called the front desk. I ask if they had a maintenance man and a wheel chair. They sent the man down and he picked me up and put me in the chair. I called my fiancée and she drove up and helped me pack. Then I got the maintenance man to help me get in my truck and I drove home. The next day I was called to go on my next assignment and I told them that I thought I had pulled a hamstring and could i take a week of vacation. They said yes but I would need a Drs note too because they had work for me at the time. I said ok and my dr gave me a note. I ended up doing this for the next week too and I went in to see my dr and he gave me a shot and ask if I wanted him to make a referral for a m r i . I told him to let me go one more week and if I wasn't any better I would go for the m r i. Well all and all it was 12 weeks before I received a total hip replacement. Now it has been six months since the surgery and I still can't stand on my leg by itself or walk without a cane. Do you think I will recover after going that length of time before surgery. If I can't go back to work in 3. Months my employer will have to cut ties with me. But if I turned it into workers comp I would be covered for an extra 6 months if they would take the claim. And also. Cover the medical for life. The way things are now I am going to lose my job if I can't go back in 3 months and my coverage. And we work 12 to13 hours a day climbing and caring tools wearing full body safety harnesses. Very strenuous work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
