Yesterday Evening I Had A Small Amount Of Fluid That

Yesterday evening I had a small amount of fluid that I felt like went down the wrong way. I immediately started a coughing fit -I was driving and it was scary. I done this before but this time I felt was much more intense
Last night I coughed numerous times, almost like I couldn't quite catch my breath. Today has been even worse. Could I have gotten enough liquid in my lungs to do damage and give me cough/bronchitis systems?
