Yesterday The Outside Of My Left Thigh Started Itching Really

Yesterday the outside of my left thigh started itching really bad so naturally I scratched it through my pants and it kept itching so I checked it and no sign of bumps or a bite now there is a large tender bruise? I don't have insurance to get checked out. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks in advance
