after being diagnosed with ludwig's angina, i had to under go an ER Tracheotomy, due to airway compromise because of the swelling within the submandibular spaces within the floor of my mouth and also in the deep neck spaces as well. Multiple Incision and Drainage was performed on 5-6 different occasions to relieve pus which was under pressure. I had been on Clindamycin, vancomycin, meropenem, rocephen, Tobramycin, Cipro, and finally Ertapenem due to the ineffectiveness of the AB's. Cultures were coming back with no specific organisms, just some rare gram positive cocci, rare gram negative rods, gram positive cocci. about midway through my treatment in the hospital a culture did reveal a growth of Klebsiella Pneumonae, Pneumoniae SSP, and Pneumoniae. Having had an initial CRP value of 235.9 and a SED rate of 43mm/hr, would it be safe to say that bc of the multiple AB's I was on , it kept this gram negative bacteria from showing on a culture? and when it did, being that of Klebsiella Pneumoniae, that this bacteria was resistant to those AB's mentioned above? Any Input would be helpful. thank you.
