For The Past 2-3 Months My Period Has Been Lasting

for the past 2-3 months my period has been lasting 2 weeks ill be off a week or so and back on again for another 2 weeks or so. i went to my local health department and they were no help. i asked for birth control to help regulate my cycle and they tried giving me something that would mess it up even more. i feel like this is taking my life over and ruining my sex life with my husband. i have no health insurance so i cant go see a gyno.. i have no idea what to do and beyond frustrated having to pay out of pocket for stuff that isnt going to help. any suggestions?
