hello,
i started my first pack of microgynon 30 about a month ago on the first day of my period. I took it everyday correctly at the same time, with my only stuff up being an hour or so. However, on the last two days of my first 21 day pack, so pills 20 and 21, I went on holiday and left my last two pills at home. The next 7 days were then my pill free week. As soon as I realised, I rang up the NHS sexual health line that day and an advisor told me that, even though I'd missed my last two pills, I would still be protected from getting pregnant as long as I started my next pack within the next seven days. She even recommended I started my pack a little earlier so, I started the pill to my next pack on a Saturday whilst I still had a slight period bleed which was 5 days after I forgot my 20th pill which was on a Tuesday. My dilemma, I had unprotected sex on that Saturday night, (it was at least 5 hours after I took that first pill) and since then, have still been having unprotected sex. But since starting on that Saturday, i have never missed a pill or been drastically late, (again twice give or take 1 hour which I was told was told by my Gynae was fine) Sorry for the confusing detail, but my problem is that I've been reading a lot of stuff online now that if you miss two or more pills you are not protected from pregnancy, no matter what the time frame of the pack. And now I am very worried that perhaps the advice I received was not correct and what is the likelihood I could be pregnant? I know I could solve this with a simple pregnancy test, but it's not very accessible to me, and I wanted to see if I'm worrying for no reason? I am very diligent and have taken the pill correctly since starting on that Saturday, and didn't even think anything of it until now reading all this conflicting informtation, I didn't realise that it was probably not okay to have unprotected sex that night or since then! As I wouldn't have taken the pill 4 days. How long does Microgynon stay in the system for and how protected would I have been on that Saturday night after only taking one pill, and having a break for four days before that? I am sorry if this makes no sense, just panicking a lot and hoping that I didn't trust advice from the wrong person even though the line was part of the NHS sexual health clinic :( Thank you for advice/help you can give!
