Hello, I Was Just Informed Today That I Am Showing

hello, i was just informed today that i am showing mild signs of emphyzema. i am a 57 yr old female and have smoked off and on since i was 14 yrs old. i have quit before for about 10 yrs and smoked very little, about 4-6 cigs a day for about 15 yrs. now a smoke 1/2 pack to a pack a day for about the last 10 yrs. my question is: does emphyzema reverse itself if i quit smoking? does it continue to progress even if i stop smoking or will it subside or stop progressing? thank you.
