Hi My Husband Recently Had A Procedure Where He Was

hi my husband recently had a procedure where he was given pain meds. Well the pain meds stopped him from having a bowel movement, we now have that under control but now he says his stomach hurts like being punched in it. What is going on and how can I fix it ?
