Hi My Mom Is 68 Years Old' She Has HTN

hi my mom is 68 years old' she has HTN . she was diagnosed with asthma when she was at 20. suddenly she had severe cough and swelling in her borh legs,her SBP was 240(dont know DBP). she had a chest XRay done which the doctor said there is secretions..her SBP is now 180.after taking the BP meds she developed more swelling in the lungs...what is the problem..should dhe check with a cardiologist...please advise
