I Am Having Lower Back Pain In The Lumbar Area,

i am having lower back pain in the lumbar area, and down my left leg. I have seen a spine doctor and he has recommended injection therapy to start. I am apprehensive about this procedure. This pain has been consistent for about 8 weeks now and doesn't seem to go away. this constant pain is very distracting in my daily activities.
I am 68 years old and in pretty good shape, very active. I don't care for pain killers, i want to be aware of my surroundings
