I Am On Birth Control And Was Having Spotting. I

i am on birth control and was having spotting. I had unprotected sex and took plan b within 48 hours. I have had brown discharge that is thick and some red. Was this my period? How will I be able to tell if I got my period or not if I am on the pill?
