I Dislocated My Finger Two Nights Ago. I Went To

i dislocated my finger two nights ago. I went to an ortho and he told me i tore the collateral ligament. he wants me to continually move it to keep it from stiffening and in 3 weeks wants to see me make a fist. my question is how his the ligament supposed to heal if I keep moving my finger?
