I Have A 14 Year Old Boy That Has Had

i have a 14 year old boy that has had a sore throat since tues night. he was running a fever all day the next day with the highest one 101.4. i was able to keep the fever down and it has not returned at all. but my son still has the sore throat. he has an appt. on monday with is Primary care doctor but he complaining that it is uncomfortable. should i take him to the ER for this
