I Have A Rash On My Backside And Inside Of

i have a rash on my backside and inside of my groin ,I have some prescripted creams from my doctor which I have been using however when I was in the army in the tropics ,with heat rash ect the medicos gave me whitfields ,which worked a treat, can I use that or should I check with my doctor. forgot to at last visit
