I Have A Very Bad Dry Cough. My Chest Is

i have a very bad dry cough. My chest is in pain too. I don't smoke and never had coughing problem. it started a week ago after i attended a birthday party and caught cold. now the cold is gone but i still suffer from cough. If i drink beer, will it cure the problem as i haven't recovered by taking medicines and tablets so far?
