I Have Swollen Lymph Gland In One Side Of My

i have swollen lymph gland in one side of my neck,it is tender at times,but when i am at rest it goes away,i have had the camera down my nose to check and it was all clear,great news but i still have this pain,i have seen 4 different doctors (all strangers) at my surgery but all they want to do is give me pain killers.i am 71 male.
it used to be both sides but the pain in one side just vanished overnight.
i sound like a worrier,but something must be causing this pain,should i go along to a&e where they will give me a good going over as i don't want to take pain killers indefinitely when no-one has as yet given me a clue as to what it is. thankyou.
