I Went Shopping Today, Suddenly I Felt A Burning Sensation

i went shopping today, suddenly i felt a burning sensation on my thumb and two of my fingers. it was white and raised. i quickly went to the bathroom to wash my hands .when i got home i soaked it in a hot water with salt.. what could this be..please im anxious
