I'm 53 And Have Been Pre-hypertensive For Years, But My

i'm 53 and have been pre-hypertensive for years, but my doctor did not see the need for mediation. Over the past few weeks my BP has been around 156/99. I check it twice a day.
I have an appointment for a physical and lab tests in 3 weeks. My wife is an RN and thinks I should see a DR sooner than 3 weeks. Your thoughts?
