Im Taking Depakote 500 Mg Per Day Since 8 Yrs

im taking depakote 500 mg per day since 8 yrs old. im now 33 and want to switch to lamictal . my doc has my tapering regimin only over a month period of time. and he has me completly off depakote starting week 2. and with depakote 250mg once a day and lamictal 100mg the first week. by week four its up to 400 mg per day.. im just really concerned about the s/e and this steven johnsons sydrome and well of course seizures. my question is , is 4 weeks too soon for me to be of of depakote. and do you think this is a good tapering regimin
