It S A Dental Question..Is It Normal Procedure, When Fixing

it s a dental question..Is it normal procedure, when fixing a small chip in front tooth, that not only the back but also the front is completely covered with stuff that they fix it with?? My teeth look stupid? Like false nails that don t fit properly would...my dental health has been excellent, through regular hygienist appointments, for many years and I only finally went to dentist cos I was nervous I might get another tooth chip?
