My 10 Year Old Son Had A 102.9 Fever. Said

my 10 year old son had a 102.9 fever. Said his throat was a little sore and he was a little nauseated. After he slept he was able to eat. Took to the doctor today because I saw white patches on his tonsils. Was told it was not strep but an ear infection. What are the white patches then if its not strep
