My 16 Year Old Son Blocked A Hockey Puck That

my 16 year old son blocked a hockey puck that was being shot during a game -- about 4 inches above his ankle on the shin -- the area is swollen tight, very red and very warm to the touch -- there really isn't much, if any, visible bruising. This happened Saturday night - he's been putting ice on it at night -- should I take him to have it looked at? Thanks!
